ゲーム開発者によって構成される「International Choice Awards Network」とメディアの投票によって2019年の優秀作を決定するGame Developers Choice Awards。その最優秀賞であるGame of the Yearに輝いたのは，オーストラリアのHouse Houseが開発した「Untitled Goose Game」（邦題「Untitled Goose Game 〜いたずらガチョウがやって来た！〜」）だった。
「DEATH STRANDING」や「SEKIRO: SHADOWS DIE TWICE」などの大型タイトルもノミネートされていた今回のGame of the Yearだったが，「Untitled Goose Game」は，いたずらガチョウになったプレイヤーが村を探索したり，物を盗んだり，人のお弁当に水に落としたり，突然ガーッと鳴いて子供を驚かせたりしつつ，人々の暮らしを混乱させていくという作品だ。ゆるいテーマと適度なパズル，そしてほどよいステルス要素が開発者達やファンのハートをつかんだと述べられている。
いつものような派手なセレモニーは行われず，ノミネート作品と受賞作，そして開発者のコメント映像だけが流れるという，シンプルな映像が公開されたのみで，いささか寂しい感じはまぬがれないが，Remedy Entertainmentの「CONTROL」が，Best AudioとBest Technology，そしてBest Visual Artに選ばれるという3冠を達成している。このほか，ノミネート作品と受賞作は以下のとおりだ（太字が受賞作品）。

なお，Game Developers Choice Awardsの前に行われたインディーズゲームの祭典Independent Games Festivalでは，最優秀賞に相当するSeumas McNally Grand Prizeに，Adam Robinson-Yu氏の「A Short Hike」が選ばれている。
