アメリカのゲームメディア34誌が選んだ“ベスト・オブ・E3 2012”は「The Last of Us」。Game Critics Awardsが発表に

　毎年，E3（Electronic Entertainment Expo）の終了後に公開される「Game Critics Awards: Best of E3」の2012年版が発表された。これは，アメリカのゲームメディア34誌（Web媒体を含む）が，1998年から続けている企画だ。

　そんな賞の中で最も権威のある「Best of Show」に選出されたのは，Sony Computer Entertainmentからリリースされる予定の「The Last of Us」。「アンチャーテッド」シリーズで知られるNaughty Dogの最新作というだけあってその注目度は高く，17部門中4部門を受賞した。

The Last of Us

　また，Microsoftの「Halo 4」と「Dance Central 3」，2K Gamesの「XCOM: Enemy Unknown」（PC/PS3/Xbox 360）が2部門ずつ受賞するなど，ラインナップは順当といったところで，あまり驚きは感じない。
　ただ，任天堂の「Wii U」がBest Hardwareに選ばれた以外に日本メーカーの作品がないのは少し寂しいと感じた。

　なお，最後の3部門はいわゆる賞ではなく，「賞賛」（Commendation）という形の評価で，グラフィックス部門ではLucasArts Entertainmentの「Star Wars 1313」と，Ubisoftの「Watch Dog」（PC/PS3/Xbox 360），オーディオでは「The Last of Us」，そして新しいゲーム性を評価するイノベーションには「Watch Dog」が選出されている。
