［TGS 2008＃050］SCEブースレポート「プレイステーション3」編：ともかく賑やかな感のあるPS3サイド

　ソニー・コンピュータエンタテインメント（以下，SCE）ブースは，中央にプレイステーション 3注目タイトルのプロモーションムービーを流す「PlayStation HALL」が設置され，向かって右側にPS3タイトル，左側にPSPタイトル，間に挟まるようにPlayStation Network関連が配置されている。SCEブースレポート，まずはPS3サイドを中心に紹介しよう。


　まず目に入るのは「グランツーリスモ5 プロローグ Spec III」の大型試遊筐体と，惑星を模したオブジェクトを囲むように試遊台が配置された「リトルビッグプラネット」。前者は，いわずと知れた大人気レースシミュレータ最新アップデート版で，会場では筐体を使ったオンライン対戦を体験できる。また裏に回ると，地味ながら通常のコントローラで遊べる展示もあった。
　後者は，可愛らしい生物「リビッツ」を操作するマルチプレイ対応アクションゲームだが，クリエイト機能や隠しステージでミニゲームが遊べるなど，なかなか奥深い要素が多く侮れない。プレイヤー達が横並びでベンチに座ってマルチプレイを楽しむ姿が，試遊台の装飾と相まって何だか微笑ましかった。


　お次は「ID CHECK」「OVER 17 ONLY」の文字が躍る壁で仕切られた，何やら物騒な雰囲気の区域。ここにはカプコンの「バイオハザード5」をはじめとする，要するに暴力的な表現によって推奨年齢が設定された/されそうなゲームが集められたスペースで，それぞれ試遊が可能。
　SCEの「RESISTANCE 2」は，前作同様にロシアで突如発生した謎の生命体キメラがアメリカを襲うという設定の，シューティング・アクション。オンラインでは8人までの協力プレイが可能で，最大60人で同時対戦可能。
　「SOCOM: CONFRONTATION」は，人気のミリタリーTPS「SOCOM」シリーズ最新作で，SEALs/SAS/KSKなど実在の特殊部隊が登場する。こちらは最大32人まで同時対戦可能なオンライン専用となる。
　「KILLZONE 2」は，独裁国家が支配する惑星を部隊とするSFチックな設定のFPS。地形のギミックや天候の変化によって起きる砂嵐や落雷がプレイヤーを襲う。こちらもオンラインでは最大32人対戦まで可能。
　一方，「Demon's Soul」はプレイヤーのチャレンジ/発見/達成を促す思考型を標榜した，初心者お断りの硬派なアクションRPG。力を求めた王が呼び覚ましてしまったデーモンと戦っていくというストーリーだ。ビジネスデイには社会人が集まっているせいか，この18禁地域ゲートをくぐった裏手には順番待ちの行列もできており，なかなか賑わっていた。


　また，18禁地域の裏手に回る途中には「METAL GEAR ONLINE」のオンライン対戦試遊台が設置されており，猛者同士が腕を競っていた。その一方で，18禁地域のゲート付近には，RPG「白騎士物語 -古の鼓動-」の小さなクローズドシアターが配置されている。中では既に記事として紹介している最新ムービーが上映されているのだが，筆者が見た限りでは常に何人かの行列ができており，注目度の高さが伺える。


　そのほか，中央部には最大12人対戦可能な異種格闘オフロードレース「MotorStorm 2」や，ジョッキーにもオーナーにもなれるだけでなく，観客となって所持金も賭けられる，至れり尽くせりの総合競馬エンタテイメント「ダービータイム オンライン」をはじめ，「WWE2009 SmackDown vs RAW」「STREET FIGHTER 4」「FIFA09 WORLD CLASS SACCER」などSCEほか各社のPS3タイトルが試遊できる。
　スポーツ関連で括っているのかと思いきや，「SONIC WORLD ADVENTURE」や「NARUTO-ナルト ナルティメットストーム」「ガンダム無双2」などもあり，なかなか賑やかな活気を感じさせた。
