［TGS 2009］世界に2台しかない“メルセデス・ベンツ SLS AMG”も自由に乗りこなせる！　「グランツーリスモ5」プレイレポート

　2010年3月の発売が予定されているPlayStation 3用ソフト「グランツーリスモ5」。レースゲームファン待望の本作の概要については，ソニー・コンピュータエンタテインメントジャパンのプレスカンファレンス記事を併せて参照していただきたいが，同社のブースでは今回，レーシングカーのコックピットを模した4台の試遊台が設置されている。

　どの試遊台も遊べるコースは共通で，実際のゲームにも収録予定の“東京ルート246”。これは青山通りから神宮前を抜けて赤坂見附方面に向かう，国道246号線をモチーフにしたコースだ。
　また，選べる車種は試遊台ごとに固定されており，向かって右の筐体から，“スバル インプレッサ ラリーカー”“フォード フォーカス ラリーカー”“フェラーリ458 イタリア”，そして一番左が“メルセデス・ベンツ SLS AMG”となっている。


　このメルセデス・ベンツ SLS AMGは，つい先日フランクフルトモーターショー 2009で発表されたばかりの，世界にまだ2台しか存在しない最新カーで，同ブースにはそのうちの一台が展示されている。現実にはなかなか乗ることができないこうした車を，自由に乗りこなせるのもグランツーリスモ5の魅力の一つだ。


　今回の試遊台では，その美しいグラフィックスはもちろん，本作のウリである車体のダメージ表現（ただし，右の2車種のみ。左の2車種にはダメージ表現が導入されていない），コース上に配置されたクッションフェンスやタイヤといった可動オブジェクト，より精度を増した車体の物理シミュレーションがたっぷりと満喫できる。

　とくに，物理シミュレーションのレベルアップによる運転感覚の向上は抜群で，まさに“実車並み”と呼べるレベルだと感じた。もう少し分かりやすい言葉で言い換えると，“より運転しやすく”なっており，普段実車を運転しているときの感覚そのままに，ゲーム内に登場する車を操れるようになっているのだ。コースは，運転の上手な人で1周約2分強といったところだが，急いで走り抜けてしまうのはもったいなく感じるほどである。

　このあたりの感覚は，どう言葉を尽くしても伝えきれない部分もあるので，ぜひ実際にプレイしてみてほしい。また，同社ブースのPSPコーナーには，PSP版「グランツーリスモ」もプレイアブル出展されているので，遊び比べてみるのもオススメだ。
