「Battlefield 3」の超高画質スクリーンショットを入手。銃器や衣服の質感まで，Frostbite 2.0エンジンの性能を堪能しよう

　Electronic ArtsとEA DICEが2011年末にリリースを予定している，ミリタリーFPS「Battlefield 3」（PC / PlayStation 3 / Xbox 360）の最新スクリーンショットが公開された。今回リリースされた画像は，どれも解像度が4000×2550ドットという超高画質のものであり，キャラクターの衣服や皮膚はもちろん，壁や銃器の質感が分かりやすいものになっている。

　これらのスクリーンショットはどれも，これまでリリースされているトレイラーと同じく，イラン北東部にあるスレイマニアのミッションのものであるようだ。雑多な市街地を歩いていくシーンやビル内の様子，そしてホテルの爆破シーン，歩道橋を拠点にしたテロ集団との激戦などが描かれている。
　なおこのスクリーンショットは，現在開発中のPC向けのゲーム画像であるようだ。PlayStation 3やXbox 360用のものは，PC版よりも画質が落とされることがEA DICEによってすでに発表されている。メモリの制限によりマップが小さくなっていたり，Motion BlurやAnti-Aliasingなどは，やはり現行のハイエンドPC用グラフィックスカードでないと厳しいようだ。

　Battlefield 3は，10月頃にはマルチプレイヤー用パブリックβテストが開始される予定だ。多くのPCゲーマーにとっては，このクオリティのゲームが自分のPCで動くのかどうか，ちょっと心配になるところだ。現時点ではとりあえず，スクリーンショットを素直に堪能しておくことにしよう。
