7月30日発売の「Gears of War 2」，マルチプレイ用マップパック3種類を日本語版のみの特別特典として収録

　マイクロソフトは，7月30日発売予定のXbox 360用ソフト「Gears of War 2」日本語版の特別特典として，マルチプレイ用マップをゲームディスクに追加収録すると発表した。また，本作のCEROレーティングが「Z」（18才以上のみ対象）に決定した。

　ゲームディスクに追加収録されることになったマップは，海外では有料配信されているマップパック「Flashback」「Combustible」「Snowblind」に含まれる，合計12種類のマルチプレイ用追加マップだ。ちなみに，合計で2000マイクロソフトポイント相当のオマケという計算になる。

　追加収録されるマップパックは，対戦プレイおよび協力プレイモード “Horde” で使用可能で，「Flood」「Grind Yard」といった新マップだけでなく，前作「Gears of War」のマルチプレイ用マップ「Gridlock」「Subway」「Canals」「Mansion」「Tyro Station」「Fuel Depot」 などが収録されている。

・Flood 周囲を取り囲むイミュルシオンが少しずつ満ち寄せ、刻々と戦場を覆っていく Flood 。時間の経過により、戦闘がマップの中心に集結するにつれ、その過激さも高まる。重火器の出現場所はマップ中央の崩れかけた道路の上にある。
・Grind Yard 廃棄物処理場が舞台の Grind Yard。マップを一望できる監視部屋は防衛に欠かせない存在。最強の武器が待つその部屋に誰よりも早くたどり着け。監視部屋には倉庫が隣接し、窓の外には狙撃ポイントが見え隠れする。気を抜くと、敵の術中に陥ることになるだろう。

　また，「こちら」の記事で紹介したように，限定生産の「Gears of War 2 リミテッド エディション」（税込9240円），「Gears of War 2」通常版と「Gears of War（Xbox 360 プラチナコレクション）」がセットになったスペシャルパッケージ「Gears of War ツインパック」（税込1万290円）が，同じく7月30日に発売される。
