MTX Mototrax［英］（Aspyr Media）

　MTX Mototraxは，実在のライダーやバイクが実名のまま多数登場しているモトクロスレースゲーム。レースに勝利して手に入れた賞金で愛車をカスタマイズしていく楽しみもある。また，オリジナルのライダーやコースを造ることもできるので，一本で相当な期間を遊べるタイトルに仕上がっている。

　デモ版では，モトクロス＆スーパーモトクロスの全米チャンピオンTRAVIS PASTRANAが操る"SUZUKI RM125"で，7人のCPUを相手に「McKena Rock」というコースでのレースを体験可能。凹凸の多いコースをいかにして攻略するかは，ハンドルさばきや重心の移動などに細心の注意を払う必要がある。また，このデモ版でのスコアなどにはほとんど関係ないが，トリックジャンプなども可能なので，速さだけでなく，美しさを追求する楽しみもある。

　製品版には，通常のレースに加え，トリックジャンプの美しさで得点を競う「freestyle」モードも搭載。freestyleでは，トリックを連続してコンボを決めると高得点が得られるので，どのタイミングでどのトリックを繰り出すかを何度も転びながら考えるのが楽しそうだ。ほかにも，最大8人によるオンラインプレイにも対応している。

　モトクロスに思い入れのある人なら，有名ライダーや実在のバイクを自在に操るという夢を叶えられるし，モトクロスのことは全然わからない人でも，オフロードコースをさっそうと駆け抜ける快感がクセになりそうな良作だ。ただし，キーボード使用時は操作がかなり厳しめ。心おきなく楽しむためには，パッドの使用をおすすめしたい。（tet）
