いまでこそFPSは数多くの名作が並ぶ人気ジャンルとなっているが，このジャンルを開拓したのは"DOOMシリーズ"といっていいだろう。この名作シリーズが復刻されるというだけでもニュースだが，なんと「THE ULTIMATE DOOM」「DOOM II」「FINAL DOOM」の3本がセットで，3980円で発売されることになった！
　この「DOOM COLLECTOR'S EDITION 英語版 完全日本語マニュアル付」は，3月29日に発売される予定。元はDOS版として売られていたゲームだが，今作はWindowsで動くように作られている。つまり，Windows 2000/XPユーザーでも遊ぶことができるわけだ。ちなみに，タイトルを見てのとおり日本語マニュアルが同梱されているので，"DOOMシリーズ"を知らない人でも，安心して遊ぶことができる。現在のFPSの基本を作ったこのシリーズは，ゲーマーを名乗る方なら押さえておくべきだろう。（Iwahama）
