［Gamescom］今度はキーパーにもなれる。ついに11人対11人対戦が実現した「FIFA 11」

　FIFAシリーズ最新作，「FIFA 11」（PC/PS3/Xbox 360/Wii/NDS/PSP/PS2）がGamescomにプレイアブル出展され，人気を集めていた。発売元であるElectronic Artsのブースは，今回出展されていたブースの中でも1，2を争う大きさだったのだが，そのほとんどがFIFA 11の展示に割かれており，多くの来場者がプレイを楽しんでいたのだ。

　そんな本作の新たな特徴をまとめてお伝えしよう。前作との違いがもっとも分かりやすいのは，選手の見た目だ。スクリーンショットを見れば分かるとおり，以前よりも格段に本物らしくなっている。
　さらに，選手の個性が反映されているのは見た目だけではなく，各選手のパスやドリブルの仕方などもより明確に表現されるとのこと。加えて，いままで以上にゴールキーパーの個性が反映されるようになり，飛び出しの頻度なども本人に近いものになるという。

　パスのシステムは，「Pro Passing System」と呼ばれるものが採用される。これは，パスを出すときのピッチ状態や体勢などに気をつかわないと，あさっての方向にボールが飛んでいってしまうなど，プレイヤーのテクニックがプレイに反映されるというもの。従来作ではかなり適当にボタンを押しても，そこそこの位置にパスを出せたので，本作をプレイしたばかりのときは，感覚をつかむのに苦労しそうだ。

　また，FIFAシリーズの特徴であった10人対10人のオンライン対戦が強化される。なんとゴールキーパーもプレイヤーが担当できるようになり，11人対11人の対戦が実現するのだ。キーパーはめちゃくちゃ重要なポジションのわりに，ゲーム展開によってはまったく出番がなかったりと，かなり特殊ではある。プレイして楽しいのかは疑問だが，リアルさを求めるのであれば，実装されて然るべきといったところだろう。
　過去のシリーズでは10人対10人で対戦していたときに，CPUが操作するキーパーが大ポカをやって勝負が決まってしまい，勝ったほうも負けたほうもいまいち釈然としない，などということがあった。だが，FIFA 11ではキーパーをプレイヤーが操作できるので，そんな事態は避けられるだろう。もちろん，これに伴い，一人の選手となってプレイする「Virtual Pro」モードでもキーパーでのプレイが可能になっている。

　正直，マイナーチェンジの域を出てはいないが，会場に集まったドイツ人ゲーマーには大人気。ブース周辺は順番待ちの人で溢れていた。従来作どおり，欧州でのヒットは間違いなしといったところだろう。
