2K Games，「BioShock 2」のDLC第3弾「Protector Trials」を発表。シングルプレイ用キャンペーンにフォーカスして2010年8月にリリース

　2K Gamesは本日，人気アクションアドベンチャー「BioShock 2」（PlayStation 3/Xbox 360）のダウンロードコンテンツ第3弾「Protector Trials」を，米国現地時間の2010年8月3日に発売すると発表した。価格はそれぞれ，PlayStation 3版が4.99ドル，Xbox 360版400マイクロソフトポイントで，日本語版の発売は不明。


　今回発表された「Protector Trials」は，本作初となるシングルプレイ用のDLCだ。6つのマップ追加，3段階の難易度への対応，7つの実績追加，そしてムービーやコンセプトアートのアンロックで構成されるという。
　詳細は未公表だが，プレスリリースには“リトルシスターの収集するADAMを狙って飛び出してくる，スプライサーたちの大群”という表現があるので，より激しいアクションが展開されると考えて良さそうだ。
　2K Games社長のChristoph Hartmann（クリストフ・ハートマン）氏も，

「これは（BioShock 2にとっての）始まりに過ぎません。ファンが熱望する，豊富なアクションやストーリーによって動かされるシングルプレイヤー向けコンテンツを，今後もリリースしていきたい」

とのコメントを寄せている。


　本作は，独特な世界観とその表現方法で話題となった「BioShock」（2007年）の続編で，北米では2010年2月にリリースされたばかり（日本国内でもディースリー・パブリッシャーより3月4日に発売済み）。原稿執筆時点で200万本近い大ヒット作品となっているが，2K Gamesはそのパフォーマンスに満足していないと公言している。
　本DLCに関して日本語版の情報はないものの，このProtector Trialsを皮切りにBioShock 2の世界がますます拡大していくのは間違い内。ファンにとっては嬉しいニュースだろう。
