　本日（9月4日），サイバーフロントから「ハーフライフ2 オレンジボックス」の10月9日発売が発表されたが（記事参照），過去に発売された「ハーフライフ 2 ゲームオブザイヤーエディション【日本語版】」（ハーフライフ 2 GOTY），「カウンターストライク：ソース【日本語版】」の価格改定版の同時発売も決定した。価格はハーフライフ 2 GOTYが5250円（税込），カウンターストライク：ソースが4200円（税込）。

　オレンジボックスにはハーフライフ 2本編が含まれているので，オレンジボックスを購入するつもりの人には必要ないが，「とりあえず本編だけ遊んでみたい」という人にはお買い得なのが，この〔価格改定版〕ハーフライフ 2 GOTYだ。このパッケージにはハーフライフ 2本編のほか，マルチプレイ用ゲームの「ハーフライフ 2 デスマッチ（日本語版）」と「カウンターストライク：ソース（日本語版）」，そして第1作のリメイクである「ハーフライフ1：ソース（英語版）」が含まれている。

　一方，オレンジボックスを購入するけどカウンターストライク：ソースでも遊びたいという人には，〔価格改定版〕カウンターストライク：ソース【日本語版】がオススメだ。こちらには，「カウンターストライク：ソース【日本語版】」「ハーフライフ 2 デスマッチ日本語版」「デイオブディフィート: ソース日本語版」という3本のマルチプレイ専用ゲームが収録されている。
